Manley Blog

Hi Bloggers,
There is so much happening to ensure that:
We secure the main sponsor with 12 months to go!
We build an exceptional team!
We are best prepared!

We now have Cake Group working with us on developing all the "commercials" of such an expedition. Not just to secure sponsorship, but to be able to deliver long term value to our sponsors and the wider society. Their experience in this field is exceptional. This is not just an expedition. It is a media campaign, an education program, an awareness platform, a change program, a record attempt and a herculean physical and emotional journey for all.

The strength and substance of the team keeps growing. Already onboard we have Rupert Baddeley, Steve Walton and Dave MacCormack - all good men; strong and true. Shortly, I will be able announce more, and people who bring with them a wealth of experience in the concepts of elite performance and team work!! Watch this space!!
But the team is much bigger than just the "ice team" - there are the other Sponsors, Primal PR, Commercials, Foundation, Website, Filming, Friends and, most importantly, our families!!

As I have said before, preparation is everything. It may seem a long way away, December 2011, we have not even had Christmas 2010 yet, but we are going to need all that time. Equipment and Logistics are pretty much squared away. Fitness and Nutrition still needs work and the "creation of an iron-willed cohesive ice team" is by far the most important aspect into which I intend to invest a lot of time and effort.

By the way, I was on BBC Radio Solent yesterday morning (26th Oct) - you can hear it on BBC iPlayer - Julian Clegg Breakfast Show - click on his 06.30 show and zoom forward 1hr 41 minutes!!! Another small step on a beautiful journey!! Thanks to Primal PR for setting it up!

Hurrah and thanks for your support.

Core Values

Dear Supporters and Followers,
I attach our core values and vision.
This is what we set out to achieve back in early 2010 and was a
refinement of my original mission way back in 2008!
With our record attempt now taking part in the centenary year of 2011,
so with just over 12 months to go, I thought it right to share more
about what is behind the expedition.
It is bigger than just "going to the pole"! Much bigger!
It is our own journey, but it is also in homage to the great explorers
of yesterday, today and to inspire those of tomorrow.
It is not enough to just "want to get to the South Pole"; it is about
what is "getting to the South Pole" going to do for us as individuals,
a team and wider society? Big questions with big answers. Over the
coming months, my team and I will shed more light on our personal
motivations, where the inspiration came from and our aspirations for
after the expedition.
Hurrah!
Cheers
Manley

Latest news!

Dear Supporters and Followers,
I enclose a Press release that is about to hit the streets, and I have
a feeling that there will be quite a few more good stories coming your
way in the coming weeks and months!
We have aligned our expedition closer to the Centenary of Scott's race
to the pole. Scott left the shores of Britain in 1910 and started his
trek to the South Pole in the Antarctic summer of 1911/12. It wont
take us quite so long to get to Antarctica - a couple of days flights
- so our departure from England will be in early December 2011 with
our return and celebration starting in early 2012 - the British
Olympic year! What a great start that will be with a new World Record
hitting our shores as our athletes make the final preparations.

Hurrah and speak soon
Manley
